Barrow slipped to their fourth defeat in five games when they went down 1-0 at Accrington Stanley.
By contrast this was a third successive league victory for Stanley, who started the month at the bottom of League Two.
The only goal of the game came as early as the eighth minutes and was scored by Stanley’s veteran Shaun Whalley.
Jimmy Knowles had provided the assist with a long ball which beat the Barrow defence and allowed Whalley a run at goal.
The 37-year-old turned back the clock as he drove in on goal before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.
Barrow actually dominated possession but did not threaten the Stanley goal until Sam Foley got a sight of the target after 22 minutes but shot just wide.
Kian Spence had the second Barrow effort but was over the bar while Liam Coyle headed wide and Dara Costelloe put in a shot which wasn’t far away.
Stanley never seriously threatened in the second half and Barrow went closest to an equaliser when a Theo Vassell header was cleared off the line by Donald Love.
There were also good efforts from Ged Garner and Spence but home keeper Billy Crellin was equal to them.
