In the run up to Halloween and Bonfire Night, police officers have been visiting schools in West Cumbria.
Members of the Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team, who regularly visit schools to talk to pupils, spoke about crossing the road safely in the dark, staying in well-lit areas, trick or treating and not talking to strangers.
They also highlighted that youngsters should stand well back from and wear gloves if handling sparklers.
Cumbria police said: ” Unfortunately, at this time of the year we see a rise in anti-social behaviour and these talks also covered anti-social behaviour, aimed at making young people aware of the consequences of their actions.”
Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant Leesa Edwards said: “We are encouraging parents to speak to children about staying safe over Halloween and Bonfire Night.
“As well as the effect that their behaviour can have on others, and that some people may find this time of the year difficult.
“We have an operation in place over this week targeting anti-social behaviour, we would encourage anyone victim to such behaviour to contact us.”
