Penrith fought back from 2-0 down to square their Northern League clash with Shildon – only to lose out to a late goal from the visitors.
The Bonnyblues had plenty of possession, but didn’t move the ball quickly enough in the first-half, before producing one of their best second half performances of the season.
The visitors cashed in on a couple of Penrith mistakes to go 2-0 ahead as Nathan Greenwood (14) and Elliott Day (43) made them pay.
The management team of Darren Edmonson and Richard Prokas made a couple of tweaks for the second-half and it paid off with an outstanding performance which deserved better.
They were soon back in the game when Robbie Hebson netted four minutes into the second-half and Shildon were really rocked on 64 minutes when Connor Shields scored the equaliser.
Penrith missed a couple of good chances to go ahead after that and they were still pushing for the winner when a mistake turned the ball over and Shildon went through to score the winner in the 89th minute through Leighton Harris.
The Bonnyblues host Windscale on Tuesday night in the Fred Conway County Cup and then on Saturday are back in Northern League action at Seaham Red Star.
