They secured an impressive 5-0 clean sweep after Alan Moore set the tone with a commanding 68-9 victory over Adam Sowden in the first frame, showcasing excellent potting and strategic play.
Richard McCarthy continued the momentum for the Cons outfit, demonstrating control and consistency to defeat Andrew Carter 65-40 in the second frame.
In the third frame, Julian Plaza added another point with a steady 60-28 win against Shane Tallentire, maintaining Cons’ stronghold on the match.
The fourth frame brought high drama as David Holland narrowly edged out Stephen Jackson in a thrilling black-ball finish, winning 50-49.
Ryan Barker then wrapped up the evening with a closely contested 41-34 victory over Jamie Flitton, completing the Cons’ flawless 5-0 performance.
This victory moved Workington Conservative Club to the top of the Division Two table, sitting on 10 points.
United Club B, despite their loss, hold onto second place in Division Two with a respectable seven points.
In a fiercely competitive all-Division One clash, United Club A faced fellow townies Station Road Club and in an intensely fought back-and-forth encounter the home side staged a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to win 3-2.
Station Road’s Tom Thompson opened the match with a steady 44-28 victory over David Chapman, putting his team 1-0 ahead.
United Club A’s Mark Suitor then faced a challenging match-up against Station Road’s Kevin Kirkham who showcased his skills with an impressive 56 break to win the frame 77-41 for a 2-0 Station Road Club lead.
Determined to respond, Clive Lister brought United Club A back into the fixture with a nail-biting 58-57 victory over Chris Hunter, winning on the black ball in an exhilarating finish.
In the fourth frame, United Club A captain Andrew Mitchelhill displayed his experience and precision, claiming a solid 54-16 victory over John Teasdale.
Peter O’Hagan then sealed the match for United Club A with the best break of the season so far, a magnificent 62, defeating Darren Lawson 80-13 to end the evening on a United Club A high note.
This win solidified United Club A’s position at the top of Division One with ten points. Station Road, despite their narrow loss, remain competitive in third place in Division One with nine points.
In a thrilling Division Two showdown, Whitehaven’s Rack Shack emerged with a narrow 3-2 victory over Maryport Social.
Rack Shack’s Peter McAvoy dominated the first frame, restricting Maryport Social’s Andrew Sharp to just a few points, winning convincingly at 62-3.
However, Maryport Social’s captain Ben Scott rallied his team in the second frame, showcasing his skill and control to overcome Neil Docherty 58-20, levelling the match at 1-1.
Rack Shack reclaimed the lead in the third frame, with Phil Denvir winning a tightly contested 42-34 match-up against Paul Vickers.
Lee Docherty then extended Rack Shack’s advantage in the fourth frame, playing with confidence and finesse to defeat Gary Miller 59-33 and give the Rack Shack an unassailable 3-1 lead.
Maryport Social’s Andrew Scott closed out the night, softening the blow for his team in the process, winning 51-9 against Rack Shack’s Andy Moore, to end the match just one adrift at 3-2.
This hard-fought win places Rack Shack third in Division Two with five points, while Maryport Social sit fourth in Division Two with three points.
In the final match of the round, Division One champions Workington Golf Club A delivered a strong away performance, defeating Division Two’s Workington Veterans Club B with a commanding 4-1 scoreline.
In the first frame, Veterans Club B’s Adam Hodgson started off in style, defeating Mark Cowan 53-29 and putting his side 1-0 ahead.
However, Golf Club A’s Bryan Walker responded with a steady 68-23 victory over Jordan Ferguson in the second frame, to level the match at 1-1.
The third frame saw a close encounter, with Golf Club A’s Lewis Tilley edging out Wayne Sinclair 64-43 to push the golfers into a 2-1 lead.
Simon Fraser then turned back the clock in the fourth frame, demonstrating remarkable potting skills and making a superb break of 41 to defeat Lewis Straughton 86-31, securing an unassailable 3-1 advantage for the Golf Club A side.
Finally, Mark Brasted showcased his talent in the last frame of the match, outplaying Simon Tootle 76-27 to complete the night with an impressive 4-1 victory.
This strong performance places Workington Golf Club A in second place in Division One with 10 points. Meanwhile, Workington Veterans Club B, despite their effort, remain at the bottom of Division Two with three points.
