Critical repair works on a retaining wall in Gaitsgill Village near Dalston are continuing.
The repairs are addressing concerns raised during flooding and have been shaped by input from the local community to maintain the safety and resilience of the retaining wall.
Work started on Tuesday December 10 with a temporary full road closure which will remain in place until Saturday December 14.
From Monday December 16 until Friday December 20 the road will reopen with temporary traffic management in place. Some delays are expected.
Throughout the repairs, access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained and residents will be able to access their properties.
Contractor Metcalfe Plant Hire Ltd have been appointed to complete the works.
The council said residents were updated about the necessary repair works and their importance at a community drop-in session held on November 28.
Cumberland Council would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation as the works take place and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
