A West Cumberland Sunday League game had to be abandoned at half-time with one of the teams down to just six players.

Dearham had suffered four late cry-offs on the morning of their Premier Division game at Deer Orchard and arrived at Wakefield Road with just eight men.

One went off injured in the first-half and another had to give up at half-time because of injury so the referee had no other course than to abandon the game with Orchard leading 9-0.

Dearham had made a fine start to the season but it’s rather imploded in recent weeks.

Reigning Sunday County Cup holders Parkside suffered another blow when they lost at home 6-3 to Moresby Rangers.

James Bell (2), Ellis Trotter (2), Tom Houghton and Jamie Martin scored for the Rangers with Ryan Maguire, Sam Stones and an own goal making-up the Parkside tally.

The other games were in Division One when three of the five fixtures were particularly tight.

Closest of all was the clash between Sun Inn Athletic and Thornhill which finished 3-3. The Athletic had led 2-0 at the break.

Reece Bewley (2) and Owen Bell scored for Thornhill with Brad Williamson (2) and Matty Hornsby responding for the Athletic.

Two other games finished 3-2 and one of them enabled Zebras to go back top of the table.

They beat Swan 3-2 with goals from Scott Underwood, Ashley Dixon and Regan Tinnion. Dean Scholey and Kieran Bennion kept Swan in contention.

King’s Arms stayed in the title race with a 3-2 win over Whitehaven Development.

Bobby Fitzpatrick (2) and Aaron Baird provided the important goals with Elijah Lee and Joe Carney netting for the Development side.

The Sun were 6-0 winners at Royal Oak through goals by Dylan Hudson (3), Brandon O’Fee (2) and Ryan Gray.

Finally Senhouse Street got the better of Borough Miners 5-3 as Gary O’Driscoll (3), Ollie Harkness and Tony Holland supplied the finishes.

Dan Graham, Adam Nowak and Jamie Alexander were on target for the Borough.
