A Lake District hotel wants to expand its spa facilities to keep up with demand.
The Beech Hill Hotel, near Bowness, said its existing spa was limited and wants to add another treatment room, relaxation space, sauna, salt room and external pool.
The hotel was bought by GGE Ltd in August – one of local businessman Richard Berry’s group of companies.
Mr Berry said at the time that the company planned to spend around £4.5m to refurbish and reposition the hotel.
Its application to the Lake District National Park Authority for the spa extension said it was to keep up with the occupancy demands of the hotel, as well as the commercial standards of other premises in the area.
The hotel recently lodged plans to refurbish a first-floor extension to allow for 15 extra bedrooms as well as to improve the main building.
The building was originally built in the 19th century as a home before it was converted into a hotel around 100 years ago.
Over the last 50 years, the hotel has been extended on all available elevations, to the north, south and west to provide additional bedroom accommodation and guest amenities, including a spa, pool and restaurant facilities.
