It’s a hard knock life – Annie is coming to town, thanks to members of Workington Amateur Operatic Society.
The award-winning musical follows plucky young orphan Annie as she charms her way into the lives of billionaire Oliver Warbucks and his personal secretary Grace Farell.
There are plenty of adventures along the way as Annie and the other orphans outsmart the evil orphanage caretaker, Miss Hannigan, and makes new friends, including a dog named Sandy. All this while singing and dancing their way through much-loved songs such as It’s A Hard Knock Life, Tomorrow and Easy Street.
Led by Kate Voce as Annie, the show sees both adult and junior performers take to the stage together again following the successes of The Little Mermaid and School of Rock.
Joining Kate will be a number of familiar names including Natasha McKenzie as Hannigan, Jack Pike as Warbucks, and Holly Harkness as Grace. In his stage debut, Bobby the dog will play the role of Sandy.

Director Jennifer Hawley-McGee started her own WAOS career in the junior section.
She said: “It takes a lot of guts, as a kid or a teenager, to get up in front of a big audience and act, sing and dance.
“But the cast of Annie has taken it all in their stride, and you can see their confidence growing day by day. They’re incredibly excited to put on this really fun show next month.”
Annie is a family-friendly show and plays for four nights only from March 12 to March 15 at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington.
