A bid for a boathouse on the shore of Windermere has been turned down.
The Lake District National Park Authority has refused a planning application from Mr and Mrs Redding to build a boathouse and extend a jetty to 27 metres at High Cunsey Farm, on the western shore of Windermere.
The national park authority said it would cause harm to the visual amenity of residents and visitors.
It said: “The boathouse, which would be a two-storey detached building, would be a prominent and incongruous addition to the less developed western shore of Windermere.
“The size and two-storey height of the boathouse would have adverse landscape and visual impacts from the public right of way and from the lake.”
Windermere and Bowness Town Council and Claife Parish Council recommended refusal for the proposals, with both councils labelling the proposed 27 metre jetty as excessive.
