Pigeon fanciers from West Cumbria who were unable to attend Morris McLuckie’s funeral paid their own tribute.
Mr McLuckie died on January 28, aged 73, after being taken ill on the previous Saturday while out with friends in Workington.
He was a popular and successful member of the pigeon fancier community.
His funeral was held yesterday, but a number of his colleagues could not attend as they were away in Belgium.
To mark his passing, they laid a wreath at the Menin Gate in his honour.

He and brother Wayne had been top fanciers in the Workington area for over 40 years as they racked up success in both the Workington Victoria and Workington Social Limit clubs.
They regularly topped the Derwent Valley Federation result sheets and then the West Cumbria Amalgamation, as well as being prominent in the Cumbria Combine.
A flood of tributes came in last night from fanciers across the county, as well as from fanciers around the country who had known Morris over the years.
The McLuckie brothers’ had their last success together last month in the series of shows run by the Victoria club when they won most points.
Morris leaves wife Angela and sons Phil, a former Workington Reds footballer and Matthew.
