A Whitehaven man has been banned from shops in the town for two years.
The Copeland Neighbourhood Policing secured a criminal behaviour order against Aaron Jones, 28, of The Gardens, Whitehaven for two years.
Jones is banned from entering any premises that are members of the Whitehaven Shopwatch scheme or enter any retail premises of property displaying Whitehaven Shopwatch Scheme posters.
He is allowed entry to Morrisons Pharmacy, Flatt Walks, Whitehaven for the purpose only of collecting prescriptions or medication.
The order follows Jones being fined £120 for shoplifting on January 17 in the town.
Cumbria police said: “This order will prevent Jones from further criminality and help protect business owners and local residents.
“We would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately.”
The punishment for breaking the terms of an order can be up to five years in prison.
Anyone who witnesses Jones breaching the terms of his order should contact the police.
