A shoplifter has been banned from stores for another two years.

Sean McAvoy, 49, of no fixed abode attended court yesterday, Thursday March 6, for shoplifting offences.

Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing team secured additional conditions against McAvoy.

His original criminal behaviour order banned him from:

  • Entering any property or premises that are part of the Whitehaven and Maryport Shopwatch & Schemelink or who display the Shopwatch & Schemelink sign
  • Entering Lidl in Maryport
  • Entering Grisedale Stores, Senhouse Street, Workington
  • Entering P&D Newsagents, Corporation Road, Workington
  • Enter Asda, Preston Street, Whitehaven

The additional conditions added this week banned him from:

  • Entering any property or premises that are part of the Workington Schemelink or who display the Schemelink sign.
  • Entering Costcutter, Station Road, Workington
  • Entering an address on Harcourt Street, Workington

The order was also extended for two years to 2027.

The punishment for breaking the terms of an order can be up to five years in prison.

Anyone who witnesses McAvoy breaching the terms of his order is asked to contact the police.
