Two women arrested after Carlisle hammer attack

Two women have been arrested after a hammer attack in Carlisle.

The incident happened in the area of Chances Park at around 6.45pm on March 19.

Police said two women were reported to have assaulted each other with a hammer, leaving them both in need of hospital treatment.

A 27-year-old woman and a 29-year-old woman , both of Carlisle, were arrested on suspicion of affray, and have since been released on police bail. 

One woman is described as approximately 5ft 11inl, with blonde hair and was wearing blue jeans and a green gilet at the time of the incident.

The other woman also has blonde hair and was wearing a black jacket and grey T-shirt at the time. 

Police are appealing for witnesses to this incident and would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time.
