A driver who was involved in a collision with a fire engine in West Cumbria fled the scene immediately.
The car and the fire engine were involved in the incident on the A595 at Calderbridge, between Egremont and Gosforth, at around 9.15pm yesterday, Friday April 11.
Cumbria police said: “Nobody was hurt and our officers tracked the suspected driver down to a Cumbria property he was renting.
“He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision – as well as drink driving after providing a reading more than double the limit.”
The driver – a man in his 20s and from the Hartlepool area – was released on bail to allow time for further enquiries to be made.
