Carlisle flag American football side Border City Centurions have been catapulted to the top of Division 1.
They have already beaten Manchester, Newcastle, Lancashire, West Lancashire and the Wirral this season and this weekend the team will get a chance to strengthen their grip on the crown, as they face number two side Warrington on Saturday at home in Austin Friars, Carlisle.
The Centurions hope that home field advantage will help secure wins, against not only Warrington but Salford on Saturday.
The team said:; “This would be a huge step towards securing the NFFL Division 1 Champions title, a goal that we’ve battled all the way to the national finals to try and capture over the past two consecutive seasons.
“The strategy isn’t rocket-science, the Centurions are currently scoring an average of 46 points per game and the aim is to light up the scoreboard and bury the opposition under a pile of points while continuing a stalwart defence that held Newcastle to zero points conceded in the last outing.”

What is flag American football and who are the Border City Centurions?
Flag football is a rapidly growing, high-skill based format of non-contact American Football.
Embraced by both the NFL and now the International Olympic Committee who have cleared it for immediate inclusion for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, it has been taking the sports world by storm over the past decade and is one of the fastest growing sports in both Europe and the Americas.
Founded in 2022, Border City Centurions are a Carlisle-based Flag American Football Team, with members and players from across Cumbria and South Scotland.

In partnership with Diabetes UK’s Lorrain Hough Testimonial Fund, sponsored by Denton Tyres, part of Team Protyre and Walkabout, the Centurions are affiliated to the British American Football Association and play in the UK’s National Flag Football League’s Division 1.
It has both senior adult and junior teams now established in the league.
