A Cumbrian 10-year-old has completed a record third run of the Wainwrights.
Leo Mason, of Frizington, is now believed to be the youngest person ever to complete all 214 peaks three times over in the fastest time.
His latest run took him just seven months and 29 days to finish after his second round saw him complete the fells in a record-breaking 90 days and his first round took only nine months.
It’s a feat Leo has reached while living with Tourette’s syndrome, ADHD and hyperactivity – all of which the youngster and his dad Michael, raise awareness of on their popular Facebook page, TickinEmOff, where they document their adventures.
His dad Michael said: “After Leo finished round two and set a record doing it in 90 days, he then had a week off and we started on round three and it’s gone amazing.
“We thought to ourselves we’d have a bit more of a chilled time doing it, but we’ve ended up doing it in under eight months again.

“He’s also done it via much harder routes on the mountains and in challenging ways through full on winter conditions with crampons and ice axes and in every weather you could throw at a kid from wind and rain to sunny days, it’s been absolutely brilliant.
“I don’t even think he understands he’s effectively broken two records in the past year and we think he’s just broken another and become the youngest person to complete three rounds of the Wainwrights.
“But I don’t think he’s grasped that, he’s just like oh yeah, let’s move on to round four!”
Leo officially finished his third round on Sunday on Scafell Pike and has now set his sights on becoming the fastest youngster to bag the 214 peaks a whopping 10 times.
Leo’s mum, who also recently completed her first round of Wainwrights, and his big sister also came along for the final peak to celebrate.
Michael added: “We finished round one and thought right, lets see how quick we can finish round two and then we went for round three and now he’s in the mindset of wanting to see if he can become the youngest person to do 10 rounds.

“But round two was bigger longer walks and this round we did more grade two or three scrambles and in winter conditions with ice axes and crampons.
“I do think I’m quite a tough dad in terms of honesty, but he really has done amazing. He very rarely moans and he’s always full of energy doing cartwheels and sliding down and of course there’s days where his legs are aching, but I always tell him that is absolutely fine.
“I tell him if they’re aching they’re getting stronger and if they’re not aching you’ve got stronger. But I am super super proud of him, I truly am.”
Leo, who is home-schooled, first started doing the Wainwrights with Michael after he completed a few while supporting his dad in scattering the ashes of his climbing partner and close friend.
His dad added that the family quickly noticed Leo’s more active lifestyle out in the mountains was helping him thrive.
Michael said: “What the fells have done for Leo personally for dealing and his Tourette’s and ADHD has been lifechanging for him. It’s helped him deal with his tics and ADHD so much better because he burns off so much energy.
“One of the big things with kids who have ADHD is they’re high energy and they need to burn it off, sometimes he’ll still have energy after 15 or 16 miles and he still wants to play darts or do things when we get home, but it’s a relaxed energy.
“If I take him out on a climbing adventure, he also has to put his full focus into it. It’s just something we’ve really bonded over as a family. It’s done so much for him, but because he’s so young I don’t think he fully grasps yet what it has done for him.”
Michael added that the family have also received a huge amount of support on the TickenEmOff Facebook page – where they share their adventures and raise awareness of how Leo’s love of the fells helps him manage his ADHD, Tourette’s and hyperactivity.
He said: “The amount of people that we get sending amazing messages is unreal, the page reaches about one million people and we get so many people just messaging saying how inspired they are by Leo and that they’ve started going out themselves or taking their kids out
“It’s just so nice and it’s something we really weren’t expecting on this journey.”
Leo and Michael are also planning to travel to the Isle of Skye and take on one of the UK’s most challenging mountain routes – Cullin Ridge – later this month.
It’s a trek that will see the pair stay overnight in the mountains and features 12km of ridge scrambling.
