Four South Cumbrian stores have passed a test by Trading Standards and police to refuse sales of alcohol and vapes to under-18s.
South Lakes Neighbourhood Policing Team and Trading Standards conducted the test purchase operation at shops in Kendal, Windermere and Ulverston yesterday, Wednesday May 14.
At the four stores they visited, staff correctly challenged for age identification.
Sergeant Dawn Boyd, of South Lakes Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a successful operation in that all premises we visited correctly challenged our test purchaser for ID and when they failed to provide, the sale was refused.
“It’s great to see that the four sites all had these measures in place.
“Operations such as these serve as a reminder to all employees who sell electronic cigarettes or alcohol around the need for vigilance and to carefully consider the legal age before selling a product.
“We will continue with these types of operations throughout the year.”
