Whitehaven Miners Social won the Ken Glover Memorial Cup for a second consecutive season after a 5-1 victory against Unisun Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

In a repeat of last year’s final, Paul McNally scored two with the other goals coming from Nathan Walkingshaw, Connor Woodend and Jonathan Nicholson to ensure Miners with some silverware this season in a match that was played at the Falcon Complex in Egremont.

Shane Dorward scored Unisun’s consolation goal.

Although this defeat will bring some disappointment for Unisun, they have another final to look forward to after they edged past Wigton Harriers 3-2 in the Whitehaven Cup semi final on Wednesday evening.

A brace from Shane Dorward and Liam Graham also netting for Unisun helped them to their second final this season.

Sam Irving and Liam Lightfoot were both on the scoresheet for Wigton.

The Whitehaven Cup final will take place on Saturday May 24, at the Falcon Complex in Egremont.

The tie between Maryport Athletic and Unisun Athletic will kick off at 2pm.
