A group of teenagers spotted locked in a Maryport playground prompted an emergency services callout.
Allerdale Police said teams were called to the new ‘Shiver Me Timbers’ playpark in the town over the weekend, after a member of the public reported the youngsters as locked inside.
The teenagers were released and officers said after viewing CCTV, it appeared the youngsters had purposely evaded staff at closing.
A spokesperson said: “It was apparent that the youths had purposely evaded staff at closing and hid until all staff had left, then played on all the equipment that is designed for under 12-year-olds, not teenagers.
“This incident wasted over an hour of the emergency services time which could have cost lives.”
