A Kendal barn has given its wishing well to a Cumbrian mental healthy charity.
Low Sizergh Barn, based near Kendal, formally handed its wishing well over to Growing Well, which is based on the farm site.
The barn first had its wishing well installed by Rotary Kendal South over a decade ago with the support of Mr Park, a Rotarian and the first of three generations of the Park family to farm at Low Sizergh Barn.
It collected donations from members of the public for over ten years but is now entering a new phase of service, by supporting the charity founded on the farm 21 years ago.
Donations received via the well will go towards Growing Well’s day-to-day costs, including providing hot lunches, minibus transport, and T-shirts for beneficiaries participating in its therapeutic horticulture programme.

Sinead McCann, Site Manager at Growing Well Kendal, said: “This is such a simple and direct way for people to support our work.
“There’s a direct line between what people give in the well and our work at Growing Well, which takes place just a few steps away across the farm’s fields.
“This local and immediate approach to fundraising absolutely reflects the way we work with people to improve their mental health and to grow our produce.”
Mr Park added: “The wishing well was created to support local causes. Growing Well started here and continues to help people here, so it’s a pleasing progression. You can’t get more local than this in terms of funding good causes.”
Alison Park, who runs Low Sizergh Barn, said: “Growing Well’s produce travels across the farm fields and into our farm shop and café, and now the support for the people growing that produce will travel the same route.
“It’s a lovely, positive step in a long-standing partnership that continues to evolve.”
