Carlisle United’s new recruitment guru Martin Foyle has explained why he chose to leave St Mirren for the National League side.
Foyle had completed three years with the Premiership club which saw them achieve a record-breaking three years in a row in the top six.
He has previously been head of recruitment at the likes of Morecambe, Northampton and Motherwell.
With over 500 games under his belt as a player at clubs including Southampton, Blackburn, Oxford United and Port Vale, and over 400 games as a manager at the likes of Port Vale, York and Hereford, he brings huge amounts of football experience to the club.
Carlisle United chairman Tom Piatak said: “I sat down with Martin personally during the recruitment process and was immediately impressed by both his footballing acumen and his calm, thoughtful demeanour.
“His reputation across the game is outstanding, and the feedback we received from managers and executives he’s worked with was consistently excellent – highlighting his integrity, eye for talent, and ability to deliver.
“Martin has a proven track record of unearthing players who punch above their weight. His experience, contacts, and instincts will be vital as we reshape the squad with ambition and purpose. We’re thrilled to bring in someone who knows how to identify value in the market and help build winning teams.”
