Keelan Leslie re-signs for Workington Reds

Keelan Leslie (Ben Challis)

Keelan Leslie has re-signed for Workington Reds after he left in November 2023 to sign for Carlisle City.

A talented West Cumbrian, who had been a member of the Carlisle United academy, his departure was disappointing at the time during manager Danny Grainger’s second spell in charge.

Now 22, Leslie was highly rated by the Workington supporters, as he could operate effectively on the left at full-back or further forward in midfield.

He was signed for Carlisle City by Jim Nichol during his final season in charge and continued at Gillford Park under succeeding manager Dan Kirkup.

Leslie is Darren Edmondson’s latest signing for Workington as he himself has returned to Borough Park and is among a clutch of county-based players recruited by the former Penrith boss.

Reds have played two pre-season friendlies, both away, losing 2-0 at Queen of the South and drawing 1-1 at Penrith.

They play their first home game on Saturday against the Scottish side Caledonian Braves when fans will get their first look at Edmondson’s squad, likely to include some trialists.
