
Emergency services were called after four people were in distress when their kayak capsized in the Lake District.
Whitehaven and Maryport Coastguard rescue teams and Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called to Derwentwater, near Keswick, yesterday, Saturday August 9.
A 999 call had been made reporting a capsized canoe and four persons in the water in the area of Lord’s Island.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Mountain Team said members were sent to the lakeshore to ready their boat.
In the meantime, Derwentwater Marina sent one of its rescue boats and got to the party who had swum to Rampsholme Island.
The casualties were taken back to the marina to be checked out. All other teams were then stood down.
