Stalybridge Celtic will provide the first FA Cup opposition of the season when they visit Borough Park in the first qualifying round on August 30.
A fine 2-0 win at Bury in a preliminary round replay, after a 2-2 home draw, set-up the tie – and a return to West Cumbria of a former popular Reds forward.
Ruben Jerome, 30, scored the opening goal right on the stroke of half time and this was also against a former club.
Jerome had left Bury after just one season after previously joining his local club Emley when he left the Reds.
He helped both clubs to promotions and is looking to complete a unique hat-trick with Celtic from the NPL West.
Jerome was a member of the Workington side which won promotion from NPL West under Danny Grainger.
If Bury had got through they would undoubtedly brought more fans to West Cumbria for the tie.
They also have two former Workington players in their ranks – Bobby Carroll, who played the first-half against Celtic and Brad Carroll who was an unused substitute.
But the FA Cup tie is not on Reds immediate radar.
They have two league games before then when they will be looking to open their account for the season – Ashton at home on Saturday and Lancaster away on Bank Holiday Monday.
