Cleator Moor Celtic put Tuesday’s nightmare performance at Whitehaven behind them to hit seven goals in the West Lancashire League.
Their 5-1 defeat in the West Cumbrian derby, along with two red cards, had left a sour taste.
But their 7-3 home win against Coppull United helped erase that embarrassment and move them three places up the table.
It was only 2-0 at half-time through goals from Ellis Trotter (21) and Sam Stones (45).
Indeed when Tom Perks made it 2-1 seven minutes into the second-half it looked as though Celtic had a fight on their hands.
But three goals in a 15-minute spell settled nerves to put them 5-1 clear.
Josh Palmer (65), Adam Smith (70) and Leo Brennan (80) were all on target.

Reagan Hartigan and Joao Victor rallied the visitors in a hectic period of added time but Celtic also scored twice after the completion of 90 minutes through Brennan and Jamie Martin.
Hear Gareth Agnew’s verdict below:
Whitehaven, however, were not able to build on their mid-week win over Celtic as they went down 4-3 at home to Astley and Buckshaw United.
It seemed as if they were going to follow-up as they had established a 3-0 lead by half-time.
Aiden Smith (8), Tom Powell (25) and Gabriel Lee (40) had given Whitehaven a comfortable half-time advantage.
But it was to prove insufficient as Astley and Buckshaw came back to win it.
Joe Ball pulled one back two minutes into the second-half but it looked as though Whitehaven had settled after that early shock.
However three goals inside 13 minutes during the final quarter from Ball (70), Tyrell Barker (79) and Callum Williams (83) won it for the visitors.
Millom have had a great start to life in the top flight and went into the home game with Hurst Green as joint leaders.

But they were shocked by the Clitheroe side who gave a lesson in chance-taking with a 4-1 victory.
They took the lead with a goal in the second minute from James Whitworth and on the stroke of half-time added a second through Tom Yates.
Jordan Rawcliffe made it 3-0 six minutes into the second-half and Jordan Monk made it 4-0 after 58 minutes.

Millom’s only consolation was a last minute penalty by Jordan Brumby.
Milnthorpe Corinthians remain the only side without a point as they were heavily beaten 7-0 at Haslingden St Mary’s.
It was 3-0 at half-time after goals from Lewis Reeder (2) and Lewis Hanley.

In the second-half Reeder completed his hat-trick; Hanley scored a second and there were other successful finishes by Charlie Ridge and Alfie Edmondson.
