The race to top the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL is heading for a photo finish.
Maryport’s 25-10 defeat at Wath Brow A on Friday night, followed by Seaton’s comprehensive win against Flimby means the top two are heading for a tie at the end of the regular season.
Both should play twice more but Maryport’s games are against Askam, home and away, and the South Cumbrians have dropped out of the League.
Seaton, meanwhile, still have to play Cockermouth and Glasson Rangers for which they will be hot favourites if the games take place.
Cockermouth were unable to raise a team this weekend to play bottom of the table Glasson.
Because points difference isn’t taken into account, if teams finish level on points they will meet in a decider for the League winners title ahead of the top four play-offs.
Reigning champions Wath Brow A look booked for third place while Lowca, or possibly Flimby will take the fourth play-off spot.
At Wath Brow the home side held a 10-6 lead over League leaders Maryport at half-time before grinding out a 25-10 win.
Morgan McCourt (2), Toby Vine and Jamie McAllister scored the Wath Brow tries.
Sam Curwen kicked four goals while Dean Rooney added a field goal.
Maryport, who trailed 10-0 inside the first ten minutes, scored tries through Luke Cuthbertson and Danny Dryden, with one conversion from Liam Anderson.
Seaton, meanwhile, were drawing level at the top as they beat Flimby 66-0.
There were 12 tries scored by Jaidan Tallentire (2), Euan Nicholson (2), Conor McCrickard, Scott Faulkner, Jon Carl Bryan, Jordan O’Leary, Andy Ostle, Lewis Mason, Lewis Brown and Ben Postlethwaite.
McCrickard kicked nine goals.
The scheduled First Division game between Distington A and Hensingham A was postponed because the home side were unable to raise a team.
