Workington Bus Station’s revamp is nearing completion.
The covered facility closed on July 21 for work to be carried out and it has been reconfigured inside.
The pavement at the left side of the bus station has been removed and now all buses will pull in to the right side.
Stagecoach said the layout change meant buses will be able to reverse without having another vehicle behind and eliminate any reason for passengers to cross the bus station.
When Stagecoach announced the closure, it said the bus station was due to reopen tomorrow, Monday September 1. It is not clear if it will reopen then.
It said the building would be given a deep clean and would be redecorated, although there was no sign of repainting yesterday, Saturday August 30.
The Murray Road facility was the first purpose-built covered bus station in Britain and opened in 1926.
Where can I catch my bus while the bus station is closed?
Bus services depart from stops on Oxford Street, Vulcans Lane or Jane Street.
The 51 service to Moorclose will depart from the westbound stop on Oxford Street, near the junction with Park Lane.
The X4/X5 to Keswick and Penrith, and the 30/300 towards Maryport and Carlisle, will use a temporary stop on Vulcans Lane.
The 29/29A/30 towards Whitehaven, Frizington and Thornhill, the 50 to Moorclose, 52 to Seaton and Harrington, and the 60 to Silloth and Skinburness, will leave from the Jane Street stop.
