
Champions Deer Orchard were beaten in the Premier Division of the West Cumberland Sunday League.
Playing only their second game of the season they were beaten 4-2 at Moresby Rangers.
The game was played in windy conditions so credit to both teams for serving up an entertaining contest played in a good spirit.
Moresby took the lead in the first minute through an own goal from Aidan Howarth.
They levelled on 20 minutes when Euan Harrison scored his first goal for the club.
It was all square at half-time but Moresby regained the lead early in the second-half and then increased it to 3-1.
With 15 minutes left Luke Graham pulled a goal back and when chasing an equaliser the Rangers broke to clinch the points with a fourth goal.
James Bell (2) and James Martin scored the Moresby goals, TYhey were also playing only their second game and have now won both.
Former champions Northside are the early leaders 100% from their first three games.
Their latest success was a 5-1 win against Lowca Pirates.
Tyler Harrell (2), Tommy Whitehead, Dan Knott and Evan Stephenson scored for Northside with Owen Woodburn netting for Lowca.
Thornhill and The Sun shared eight goals and the points in an entertaining clash.
Ben Mahaffy (2), Harry Hodgson and Harrison Rogers found the target for Thornhill but The Sun took home a point with replies from Joe Dobinson, Owen Fearon, Dylan Turnetr and Dan Hill.
There were four games in Division One and as usual they produced a glut of goals – 29 on this occasion.
The joint leaders Maryport Amateurs and Sun Inn Athletic led the way as both enjoyed 7-2 victories.
At home to Zebras, the Amateurs won with goals from Steven Stoddart (3), Carl Denver (2) and Jack Greenhow (2).
Dan Little and Brandon Birks were the scorers for Zebras.
Sun Inn Athletic won at King’s Arms as goals from Matty Hornsby (3), Linden Wilson (2), Bradley Williamson and Jason Donald carried them to victory.
Kieran Fraser notched both goals for the King’s Arms.
Royal Oak won 4-1 at the Swan with strikes from Ben Ferguson, John Sparks, Brandon Tolson and Ryan Nichols. Andrew Leach got Swan’s consolation.
In the other game Senhouse Street were 4-2 winners at Sun Inn with goals from Charlie Shaw (2), James Shaw and Gary O’Driscoll.
Richard Hudson and Lewis Fisher netted for Sun.
