Are you a hospice hero? The Bikes Boats Boots event will return next year to raise cash for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.
The event, on Saturday May 9 2026, involves cycling 34km, canoeing 3km across Ullswater and hiking 17km up Hellvellyn.
The event can be completed solo or as a relay team.
Suzanne Garbarino, head of clinical services, said “Your support means we can be there for a family during the toughest of times, a patient spending their final days in comfort and dignity, and give a child with a medically complex condition a grand day out surrounded by friends.
“We rely on the generosity of our local community to fund 80% of what we do, with only around 20% of our funding from the NHS. The funds you raise by taking part could give a local family memories to cherish for a lifetime.”
There are different ways to take part. A £50 donation per person secures your place and includes a welcome pack, event T-shirt, snacks, post-event meal, medal, and a celebratory drink.
Choose your team:
- All-in Team (2-4 people): £1,500 fundraising target
- Relay 2 (4-6 people): £1,500 fundraising target
- Relay 4 (6-12 people): £2,000 fundraising target
Penrith’s AST signmakers is sponsoring the event.
Mark Aston, managing director, said: “We can’t praise the work of Eden Valley Hospice enough, so we’re incredibly proud to once again support Bikes Boats Boots. We encourage all local businesses to enter a team if they can – it’s an amazing event and great for team building.”
