A narrow 1-0 win at Brackley last night moved up Carlisle to third in the National League table.
It was down to their new goal hero Regan Linney who is proving to be one of their best signings for some time.
Linney struck in the 79th minute with his sixth goal in seven games and again emphasised his quality as a finisher.
He latched onto a ball from Jack Ellis and from an angle drilled a low shot across the home keeper into the bottom corner.
It was a game of few real chances and once again Linney proved his worth to the United squad.
Brackley’s best chance came in the first-half when a header from Matt Lowe was just wide.
That reversal last night was their third defeat in a row and it dropped them to 13th in the National League table.
