Return to Lowick for hounds

The return to Lowick for the second time saw 15 hounds turn out for the three races.

The biggest field was for the opening senior race. Denise and Jenny Bland and co were looking to repeat their one-two with Huntsman’s Rebel and Huntsman’s Time.

The hounds can be seen coming down the fell before they appear onto the finish and two had stolen a march, and it was Huntsman’s Rebel and Huntsman’s Time, with the pair of them having a good race.

As they reached the finish Huntsman’s Rebel pulled away to claim the win from kennel mate Huntsman’s Time.

Leading the chasing pack was Miterdale Green Queen for Sophie Steele, Jake and Zach Green who finished well to take third ahead of her two kennel mates Miterdale Honesty and Miterdale Rambler for Anthony, Steph, Sophie, Katie and Alfie Steele.

The final ticket went to Lily for Barbara and Geoff Jones.

The pups had a field of three taking part and like Huntsman’s Rebel Denise and Jenny were looking to repeat the one-two with Jenny’s Chance and Huntsman’s Unite.

As they appeared on the finish Miterdale Wow for Anthony, Steph, Sophie, Katie and Alfie Steele was first through the last gate but was overtaken in the final stages by Jenny’s Chance who finished well to claim the win ahead of kennel mate Huntsman’s Unite with Miterdale Wow having to settle for third.

The final race of the evening was the Open Restricted with a field of five.

When they arrived on the finish Dream Catcher for Cathy, Joy and Brian Lister finished well to win ahead of three kennel mates for Brian Graham and Julie Birkinshaw – Bretton, Young Harry and Reebok.

The final ticket went to Overwater Louie for James Irving but is currently being kennelled by Andy Horn.

September 2 – Lowick

  • Hounds -1. Huntsman’s Rebel; 2. Huntsman’s Time; 3. Miterdale Green Queen; 4. Miterdale Honesty; 5. Miterdale Rambler; 6. Lily. 7 ran, time 26.38.
  • Pups – 1. Jenny’s Chance; 2. Huntsman’s Unite; 3. Miterdale Wow. 3 ran, time 20.29.
  • Open Restricted – 1. Dream Catcher; 2. Bretton; 3. Young Harry; 4. Reebok; 5. Overwater Louis. 5 ran, time 21.34.
