Tight midweek games in West Cumberland Sunday League

Five midweek games were staged in the West Cumberland Sunday League, all in Division One.

Three of them were tight affairs, the other two not so close.

Maryport Amateurs and Sun Inn could not be separated as they finished all square at 3-3.

Steven Stoddart, Lewis Moore and Jack Greenhow scored for Maryport with Sun replying through Kieron McLuskey (2) and Andrew Trestianu.

Sun Inn Athletic came from 1-0 behind at half-time ro win 2-1 at Swan.

Jay Dempsey had given Swan the lead but second half goals from Matty Hornsby and Ryan Nicholson won it for the Latics.

Zebras and Workington Falcons were level (1-1) at half-time but the Falcons went on to win 4-2.

Declan Moore helped himself to a hat-trick and Dan Graham also chipped in for the winners.

Brandon Birks and Ellis Graham were on target for Zebras.

The best individual performance came from Gary O’Driscoll as he scored all of the goals for Senhouse Street in a 6-1 win against Mirehouse.

Ryan O’Neil scored the consolation goal for the Whitehaven side.

The King’s Arms were the night’s top scorers, building on a 6-1 half-time lead to win 10-3 at Royal Oak.

Kieran Fraser (3), Luke Elliot (3), Lennox Hunter (2), Coady Scott and Taylor Rodgers scored the King’s Arms goals with Blake Hardy (2) and Reece Connelly replying for the Royal Oak.

Sunday’s fixtures

  • Premier Division – Dearham Commercial v Deer Orchard; The Sun v Moresby Rangers; Thornhill v Northside.
  • Division One – Maryport Amateurs v King’s Arms; Mirehouse v Workington Falcons; Senhouse Street v Swan; Sun Inn Athletic v Zebras; Royal Oak v Sun Inn.
