Workington Comets’ Vinnie Foord non-availability for Kent investigated

Workington Comets young reserve Vinnie Foord was the centre of a speedway investigation at the weekend.

It was not entirely of his own making and involved his National League Development side Kent.

The investigation was prompted by Foord’s non-availability for Sunday’s NDL meeting with Birmingham – 15 hours after his intended fixture, Workington v Berwick had been called off.

Foord is currently based in Scotland, doesn’t drive, and had said there was no way he could get to Kent for the noon start.

Consequently the referee at the Kent meeting had consulted the Speedway Control Board and was told the home side could have a facility for the absent Foord.

It later transpired that this should not have been allowed and the score of the guest Cooper Rushen has now been deleted from the final score.

Rushen had scored 15 + 2 in a Kent win of 54-35 and that has now been revised to a 39-35 victory.
