
A driver has died following a collision on the A66 in West Cumbria.
The three-vehicle collision happened between Bridgefoot and Broughton Cross yesterday, September 9, and was reported at around 10am.
It involved Volkswagen Golf, a Scania HGV and a Volkswagen Caddy panel van.
The driver and sole occupant of the Golf was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Caddy was taken to West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven for further assessment. His injuries were described as minor
The driver of the HGV was uninjured.
The road remained closed while police officers carried out their investigations.
Road closures were in place at Clifton roundabout and Brigham crossroads and roads reopened yesterday.
