A new headteacher has been appointed to lead a Lake District village primary school.
Bassenthwaite Primary School has welcomed Leanne Day as its new headteacher.
Mrs Day officially took up the post at the beginning of the term.
She said: “I am absolutely delighted to join the Bassenthwaite Primary School community.
“It is a privilege to lead such a dedicated team of staff and to work closely with families to ensure every child thrives.
“My focus will be on nurturing a supportive, inspiring environment where children feel valued and excited about their learning.”
Chair of governors Margaret Taylor added: “We are thrilled to welcome Leanne to Bassenthwaite. Her prior experience of a rural village school and commitment to excellence make her the perfect fit to guide our school into the future.”
Mrs Day has already begun meeting with pupils and parents, and said she planned to continue to build on the school’s strong reputation for academic achievement and personal development.
