The West Cumbria Amalgamation raced again from Cannock on Saturday but had a much better experience than the previous week.
Returns were near perfect on a day when the birds skated home in a light south-east wind.
Liberated at 10am the Amalgamation was won by Ian Wood of Harrington Central clocking at 12.10pm after the 147-mile flight, covered at 67mph.

The winner, a blue hen, was bred in the stock loft though a line that has bred countless pigeons to win and score at all levels – Kees Bosua from his good friend Paul Fisher.
It was only her third race of the season because Ian has had other commitments and he didn’t like the forecast for Cannock 1.

She hadn’t raced since the first Appleton on August 10 and the only other race she had was from Garstang.
Kevin Evans was back on top at Workington Victoria, taking the first four tickets and also second on the Fed sheet.

His winner, a dark cock is a great grandson of the red cock from Steve Foster which has proved the fountainhead of Kevin’s successful family of pigeons.
Workington Social Limit was won again by Les Cape, not the first six tickets he gained at the first Cannock, but another timely success.

It’s been a quiet year for the loft but is finishing with a bang and Les will be looking to end with a hat-trick from Stratford this weekend, the final race of the season.
The winner is a nice blue cock off a pair Les got from Northern Ireland fancier Joe Smythe.
Winning in Seaton RBL again (after no members sent to the first Cannock) were Peter Dobie and Ralph Palmer.
It was a very tight result with decimals between all the first four, three of which were to the winning loft.

First over the pad was a Blue Cock which is one of only four they bred in the racing loft. His sire and dam were two of their best young birds last year, both scoring a number of times including 30th Fed Cannock.
One of the grandsires was 24th in the Million Dollar Final of 2020.
A full sister to the dam of the winning cock is currently flying quite well in the Afrikapro after five of the 10 races.
The Bromley were top of the sheet in Flimby withy another of their well-established Busschaert family.

It was a blue whose parents both had minor tickets but were lost this year as yearlings.
The West Cumberland Federation was won again by David Lofthouse in the Lowca club.
That’s his sixth Fed winner this season, four of them in the young birds.
David has former Sandwith ace Barry Irving helping and this winner, a chequer hen is bred from one of the McGimpsey pigeons that Barry has introduced, it’s bred down from a really good McGimpsey pigeon called Churchill.
Newcomers to the sport this year Bewsher, son and Park had their best performance taking all but fifth ticket in the Egremont club.
Their winner is a grizzle hen bred from a direct son of Olympic Hurricane, gifted to them by good friend Jim Moreau and bred by Lyndon Joesbury.
The dam is a grizzle hen off probably the most in-form fancier right now in Belgium, Sven Fierens. It was bought in a charity auction and Fierens was kind enough to give the partners the pair.
Peter Bewsher said: “Sven’s results this year have been brilliant. He recently sent three to a race which had 3,500 entries and won it.
“We’ve now good a good relationship with Sven and will be getting more of his birds through Adam O’Hara.
“Sadly the charity auction was for Adam’s brother who died recently.”
