A woman whose suspected heart attack prompted her on a weight-loss journey is continuing to inspire people across Cumbria.
Kim Mattison tipped the scales at 20 stones and was also struggling with asthma, a family history of heart disease and diabetes.
When she had what she believed to be a heart attack it served as an alarming wake-up call and she knew that she had to alter her lifestyle.
She joined Slimming World and lost almost 10 stones.
In April this year, she became a consultant for the firm, as she wanted to support other people on their weight-loss path.
The mother-of-four now no longer requires heart medication, her fatty liver is completely reversed, she is no longer at risk of heart disease, has dramatically reduced her risk of type 2 diabetes and is no longer reliant on daily asthma medication.

Just months into her new role, Kim has already made a major impact. Her first two groups have achieved Bronze Award status, collectively losing 500 stones.
Now, she’s expanding. On Wednesday September 17, Kim will launch her third group at Cockermouth United Reformed Church, with sessions at 5.30pm and 7pm.
She said she kept it real. She still enjoys her favourites – ham, egg and chips, and even the occasional Mars Bar – and said slimming did not mean sacrificing the foods you love.
She added: “It’s not about perfection. It’s about progress, balance, and long-term change.”
