Barrow slipped to fourth bottom in League Two after a 2-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers.
It left them just a point above the drop zone with six defeats in their first eight games.
By contrast Rovers were making it four League wins in a row as they moved ninth just out of the play-off berths on goal difference.
Josh McEachran put in what was probably meant as a cross on 16 minutes when he got an opportunity to put back in a cleared corner.
The ball went all the way over the keeper Wyll Stanway and ended up in the top corner.
It was the first goal that ex-Chelsea product McEachran has scored since 2018 when he was with Brentford.
Barrow had to make a change soon afterwards when Charlie Raglan went off injured to be replaced by Connor Mahoney.
Rovers were able to double their lead after 28 minutes when Promise Omochere won a cross from Jack Sparkes at the far post. He was able to set-up Fabrizio Cavegn and he knocked the ball home from short range.
Barrow threatened a revival after 69 minutes when Raglan’s replacement Mahoney was on hand to find the net with a header from Elliot Newby’s cross.
The Bluebirds struggled to create opportunities to level and Rovers held on for maximum points.
