Two second-half goals enabled Carlisle United to see off Aldershot Town at Brunton Park.
It was enough to keep the Blues third in the National League table and was their third win in a row following their first defeat at Sutton.
New fans favourite Regan Linney, who missed out on the August Player of the Month award for the National League, might be in the reckoning again however.
He scored his eighth goal of the season a minute into the second-half.
Stephen Wearne had played him in and the star striker drove into the area before sliding the ball into the net past keeper Dewhurst and slotted the ball past keeper Marcus Dewhurst.
The hosts doubled their lead on 69 minutes when Bevis Mugabi did well to find space at a corner before drilling home a low shot beyond Dewhurst.
Goalkeeper Dewhurst proved to be man of the match for his side with a series of important stops – the best to deny Linney and Luke Armstrong.
Aldershot rarely threatened although Ryan Hill struck the crossbar in the 35th minute with Kwame Thomas’ follow-up blocked.
Then Gabe Breeze had to block Tristan Abrahams’ effort from close range on the hour and then spread himself to deny Hill at the back post.
Carlisle visit Altrincham next Saturday before it gets really serious with successive games against big-hitters York, Rochdale, Hartlepool, Scunthorpe and Forest Green.
