
A report has been made to police of a spiking incident in Penrith.
While no details have been released, Eden Police said as a result, officers have visited several licensed premises in Eden.
They handed out posters warning the dangers of spiking, Ask for Angela posters, reusable bottle caps, spiking test kits and drugs wiping kits for licenced premises to deter drug use.
Eden Police said: “Spiking is a crime that Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team take seriously and we will arrest and aim to prosecute any persons we believe to be involved in spiking.
“Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team are working closely with CID to detect and prevent spiking crimes.
“If you feel like you have been spiked, call 999 immediately and ask for police.”
They issued the following advice:
Spiking can make you seriously ill. The signs you should look out for in yourself or someone you are with include:
- Confusion and disorientation
- Nausea and vomiting
- Hallucinations and paranoia
- Poor co-ordination and vision
- An inability to communicate clearly
- Memory loss and blackouts
