In amateur rugby league circles all roads lead to Maryport tomorrow for a standout game in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL.
It’s a shoot-out between Maryport and Seaton Rangers for the Premier Division title.
The pair finished the season level on points and with scoring differential not counting now it has meant a play-off.
Because they won once each in their two league clashes the team that had the better head-to-head scoring aggregate has the opportunity to stage the game – and that’s Maryport.
Both coaches aren’t at full strength with suspension, injury, holiday or work affecting their selections.
But what is clear is that both sets of players are up for this decider and if the weather is not as bad as forecast a very big crowd is expected at the Athletic Ground (ko 2.30pm).
Actually it’s possible that these two sides could be involved in a rather special trilogy as they are already scheduled to meet on Saturday, October 4 at Glasson in the Cumberland Cupo final.
Then if they get through their Top Four play-off semi-finals will meet in that final on Friday October 17 at The Fibrus Community Stadium in Workington.
The winners of tomorrow’s big game will be at home to Lowca in the Top Four semi-final with the losers hosting Wath Brow A.
In Division Two of the National Conference Barrow Island travel to runners-up Dewsbury Celtic needing a win to claim the last play-off place.
Both Kells and Egremont will finish in no man’s land between the play-offs and the drop zone after playing their final NCL Division One games.
Kells host play-off qualifiers Shaw Cross Sharks while Egremont travel to relegated Oulton Raiders.
