Workington Reds postponed last night’s FA Youth Cup game after heavy rain made Borough Park very wet.
As opponents Spennymoor wanted an early decision to avoid unnecessary travel costs the postponement was confirmed in the morning.
Reds would also have had one eye on today’s NPL Premier Division game at home to Prescot Cables.
There was heavy rain yesterday and more rain is forecast today.
There will be an early morning inspection but officials are hopeful for the game to go ahead.
There should also have been a home game on Wednesday night for the Under-23s in the Lancashire League West Division but that was postponed because of transportation issues for the visitors.
This afternoon Reds are hoping to pick up the threads of their unbeaten run which ended on Tuesday night with a late 2-1 defeat at Hebburn.
Two good performances had earned a 2-1 win at Bamber Bridge and a 0-0 draw with League leaders FC United of Manchester before the mid-week loss.
There were positives to take out of that and manager Darren Edmondson expects to have the luxury of more players to choose from.
Carlisle United loanee Hayden Atkinson, a Reds player until the New Year, should be available again after an injury setback in training.
Kai Nugent and Cieran Casson are also expected to be ready to resume after injuries.
Reds are looking for their first home win while the Cables have not won away.
The visitors have recently signed defender Ollie Southern from Warrington Rylands.
The 23-year-old has significant experience within the National League having played for both Hereford United and Warrington Town, as well as in the Cymru Premier Division with Bala Town.
The Cables currently sit 11th in the table, six points better off than the Reds – both from nine games.
