The critically acclaimed Kimichi Symphony Orchestra has announced a three-concert tour of the Lake District next month.
The orchestra will present audiences with a ground-breaking way to experience one of classical music’s most iconic works – Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
Renowned for its innovative and inclusive approach to performance, the orchestra will seat audiences inside the orchestra itself, creating an immersive 360° sound environment.
Keith Slade, artistic director of the Kimichi Symphony Orchestra, said: “Beethoven’s Fifth is one of the most recognisable symphonies in the world, but hearing it from within the orchestra transforms it into an entirely new experience.
“This tour is about breaking down barriers and reminding people that world-class music belongs to everyone, everywhere.”
This Lake District tour follows the orchestra’s acclaimed performances of all three Stravinsky ballets at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall earlier this year.
They will be performing at St Mary’s Parish Church, Ambleside on Saturday October 25 from 5pm to 6pm and Victoria Hall in Grange-over-Sands on Sunday Octiber 26 from 4pm to 5pm.
A children’s concert will be held on Sunday, October 26 at Kendal Town Hall from 11.30am to 12.45pm.
Held in collaboration with Westmorland Youth Orchestra, it is an introduction to the orchestra and a unique opportunity for the young musicians of the Westmorland Youth Orchestra to perform alongside Kimichi’s professional players.
Audience members may even be invited to step up and conduct.
