Four players from West Cumbrian clubs have been selected for Rugby League World’s team of the month.

Max Clarke, Dom Wear and Mason Lewthwaite from Workington Town and Jack Kellett from Whitehaven have been named in the magazine’s selection.

Centre Clarke joined Town in July and has had a strong finish to the season.

A Welsh international, Clarke had played for London, Sheffield and Doncaster before joining Barrow in 2024.

Wear has just completed his first season with Town after turning pro last winter from Kells.

He has taken to League One confidently and is one of the nominations for Town’s player of the season.

Lewthwaite is a former Kells team-mate of Wear’s who signed for Whitehaven at the same time.

But after rapidly becoming Whitehaven’s leading try scorer he switched to Town where he was soon among the tries.

Kellett was introduced to the pro game at the end of the 2024 season while still an amateur with Hensingham.

He did so well that Haven signed him and that was justified with some powerful performances during the season, establishing himself as a firm fans favourite.

The selected team was: 1. Shane McCrane (Dewsbury), 2. Tom Halliday (Goole), 3. Max Clarke (Town), 4. Kieran Taylor (North Wales, 5 Patrick Ah Van (North Wales), 6. Toby Hughes (North Wales), 7. Dom Wear (Town), 8. Jon Luke Kirby (Midlands), 9. Jonny Openshaw (Swinton), 10, Chris Barratt (North Wales), 11. Sam Wilde (North Wales), 12. Mason Lewthwaite (Town), 13, Jack Kellett (Whitehaven).
