Windscale’s most inept performance of the season saw Durham Corinthians take all three Wearside League points.
It finished 3-0 at the Falcon Complex and the Atoms could offer no excuses.
The visitors, who just missed out on promotion to the Northern League last season. are regular top five finishers in the Wearside League.
Corinthians are always well organised and full of energy and this proved to be the case in this game.
The Atoms, despite being so poor were still only one goal in arrears at half time with a goal in the 33rd minute by Jordan Harker when he curled the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.
There were some harsh words at the interval from Atoms manager Stephen Fawcett regarding their poor performance level however, these seem to have gone unheeded as Corinthians doubled their lead two minutes into the second period.
Josh Clark pounced on a poor clearance to fire the ball beyond Joe Rumney into the back of the Atoms’ net.
The points were sealed eight minutes from the end when Max Stoker headed home a corner at the back post.
It was a deserved win for Corinthians who didn’t need to produce anything significant against the hosts who appeared uninterested from the start of play.
The Atoms have a week to stew on this performance as the midweek fixture schedule eases.
They will need to address their shortcomings during training prior to taking on Brandon United next week at the Falcon Complex, kick-off at 2pm.
This is now a must win game in order to address their recent poor run of form.
