Kells A won a thrilling CARL First Division top four final in extra time.

Against neighbours and long-time local rivals Hensingham A they edged a pulsating contest 38-32.

A try from Jamie Jennings in the first half of extra time converted by Ross Gainford won it.

Hensingham were fastest out of the blocks and built an early 10-0 lead before Kells came back to lead 16-14 at half-time.

Tries from Blaine Graham, Callum Kinrade and Ryan Starkie, two converted by Ryan Wood had edged Kells in front.

The tide seemed to have turned in the second-half when Hensingham led 32-26 but Ryan Starkie’s second try, converted by Gainford squared the tie and took it to extra time.

The other second-half tries for Kells were scored by Dan Starkie and Aaron Burns, the first converted by Wood.
