Two West Cumberland Sunday League sides opened the Sunday County Cup competition at the weekend.
It was a ten goal feast with reigning Premier Division champions Deer Orchard having to work hard to win 6-4 at struggling Division One side Royal Oak.
Orchard led 3-0 at half-time, and although out-scored in the second-half had done enough to win the tie.
Josh Palmer was the match star for the Cockermouth side with five of the goals while Louis Pickering scored the other.
Blake Hardy (2), Ryan Nichols and Brandon Tolson scored for Royal Oak.
In games played in the east of the county Scotby were 4-0 winners over Dalston; Harraby Catholic drew 3-3 with Dalston Black Reds and then lost on penalties while big guns Inter Pirelli had a walkover against Carlisle Reivers.

The tightest of four games in Division One was Maryport Amateurs 5-3 win at Workington Falcons.
