Only two out of the scheduled 16 ties in the West Lancashire League’s Richardson Cup were played on Saturday.
Bad weather forced the postponements as Storm Amy did the damage, which wasn’t just confined to football matches.
Cleator Moor Celtic v Whitehaven and Appleby Bridge v Millom were two of the casualties.
Milnthorpe Corinthians did play, however and the Cumbrians put up a solid display in defeat.
They went down 1-0 at Haslingden S. Mary’s to an early goal from Charlie Ridge.
It was 2nd v bottom and was an encouraging result for the Corinthians.
In the North West Counties Division One North Holker Old Boys should have been at Squire’s Gate but that game was also a victim of the bad weather across the North West.
So too was the Wearside League game at the Falcon Complex where Windscale should have played Brandon United.
All games in the Cumberland County League were called off.
