A 19-year-old has been jailed for 10 months for driving while disqualified and dangerous driving after he was recognised by a police officer.
Tyrus McAllister, of Todhills, near Carlisle, was driving a van near his home on September 29 when was seen by a police officer.
The officer carried out a check and found McAllister was disqualified from driving until 2028.
McAllister tried to flee from the officer in a 10-second chase and collided with another vehicle, owned by him.
He then tried to run away.
However, officers caught up with McAllister and he was arrested.
McAllister appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on October 15, where he admitted charges of driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and failing to stop.
He must also complete an extended driving test before he can get his licence back, once his disqualification ends.
