A 65-year-old man from Barrow has been accused of attempting to approach children in the town despite being subject to a court order.
John Ward, of Sutherland Street, has been charged with two breaches of the sexual harm prevention order and failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders register.
Cumbria police were called to Stileman Walk earlier this week.
Ward appeared at Barrow magistrates court yesterday, October 22, and was remanded into custody.
He is due to appear at Preston Crown Court on November 19.
Cumbria police said: “We are aware the incidents have caused significant concerns within the local community and we continue to work closely with partner agencies to ensure public safety.”
